Register yourself to help out with our High Seas Adventure (VBS)! Register as a Volunteer Online.

If you have helped with VBS in the past, you know how much fun it is. It is one of those activities that is a lot of work and effort, but always seems to leave a lasting impression. What a great time to leave a “lasting impression” in a child’s mind! Many seeds are planted during VBS and you can be a part of it!!

We are holding our 3rd annual VBS 6/21-6/25 in the evening from 6:00-8:45 (although helpers should plan on 5:45-9:00)

We are in need of Crew Leaders (male/female adults and teens 15 years or older) and assistant Crew Leaders (teens 12-14).

What are Crew Leaders and assistants?

During High Seas Expedition, you’ll visit different stations with a group of three to five kids. You’re not in charge of preparing or teaching activities; you just get to be there and help kids enjoy them as you shepherd the members of your Crew.

The following guidelines will help you be an awesome Crew Leader.

A Crew Leader is
• a friend and a helper,
• someone who knows and calls kids by name,
• someone who offers kids choices,
• someone who asks questions,
• someone who encourages kids, and
• someone who supports Station Leaders.

Please register at
http://www.groupvbspro.com/vbs/ez/Emmaus

or e-mail Samantha at swalraven@verizon.net

We have other positions to fill as well, if you feel like you can be used in other ways. Mark your calendars for decorating on Sunday June 20th!!!!!

May 14th, 2010 at 3:30 pm to May 16th, 2010 at 3:30 pm

Sleepy Creek Farm, Cross Junction, VA

What do camping, STEREOREEL, paint-ball, Ethan Dean, archery, capture the flag, Rachael Bracken, Real-World Risk Game, Rachel Schlosser, hiking, crafts, awesome sessions, World Domination, GREAT FOOD, Lisa Gum, crazy people, campfire, coffee house, Thomas Trapnell, beautiful scenery, 200-acre farm and Thomas Delany have in common? The answer? The Extreme Realty Spring Youth Retreat. If you haven’t been to one of our retreats. . .well. . .you are REALLY missing out! You may come wondering how fun it will be, but you will be so sad when it’s all over. . .because Extreme Reality retreats are put together for the maximum boredom-busting power!
Bring a friend. Bring two or three, because your friends may be really jealous and mad when they see the Youtube videos after the retreat and they were home all weekend wondering where all their friends were.

What do you need to know?
Cost:

If you pay by April 30th the retreat only costs $20!!!! If you want to paintball, it will cost an extra $20. $20 + $20 = $40

If you pay between May 1 and May 10th the cost is $30 with an extra $25 for paintball! $30 + $25 = $55.

Also, everyone attending will need permission forms and emergency medical forms to attend. These will be posted by Monday, April 5th on facebook or Emmausofclarke.com.

Registration forms can be mailed to:
Emmaus Church
PO Box 1
Berryville, VA 22611

Make checks out to Emmaus Church.

Frequently Asked Questions:
1. What if I have a soccer game on Saturday? GREAT QUESTION= We will provide a shuttle during the day Saturday for those who need to go back for a sports event. OR your parents can pick you up and drop you off, if you need a ride back at a different time than the shuttle is running.
2. How will we get to the retreat? A bus will leave CCHS on Friday @ 3:45 and drive up to the farm.
3. What time should I get to the high school? You should be there by 3:30. (In time to load your things and hand in your permission forms, if you didn’t mail them in ahead of time.
4. Will anyone I know be going? I don’t know who you know. Ask them if they want to come with you.
5. Is the band any good? Check them out on facebook: Stereoreel. We think they are pretty awesome.
6. My whole youth group wants to come. Can we do that? Sure. Youth leaders call Briana Nei at 540-550-7534. Youth groups need to be registered for a campsite by May 1st.
7. What if I don’t have a youth group, can I still come! Sure! We will put you in a tent with your friends and or the most fun people at the retreat. Just let us know if you are coming as a loner.
8. What kind of food will there be? It can’t be that good for so cheap! Well, we have gourmet chefs Dave and Nikki Kimble attending to our every culinary needs. At past retreats we have enjoyed everything from chicken parmesan to pizza to chicken and dumplings, to a hog roast. We are very proud of our culinary artists!
9. What kind of spiritual stuff will we do? We will have 4 sessions to reveal how to overcome the difficult things we face in life through the power of God. Hot topics will be addressed!
10. Do I have to play paint-ball? I’m not into that. No you don’t, that is a selective activity.
11. Is the whole thing sports? Well, we definitely have team competition, but we have activities like jewelry making, crafts and board games, for those who enjoy more sedentary choices.
12. What is camping? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camping (In other words. . .it’s something they used to do a long time ago in warfare and in everyday life. It involves tents, sleeping bags and fresh air.)

Are you ready to take a break away from your busy life for a time of renewal? Life’s not easy, but it’s do-able when you take time to renew. Renew your life, renew your mind, renew your relationships.

Gifted musician and special guest speaker, Renee Martin will share with us the gift of God’s grace through music, testimony and teaching. Her desire is that others may know how significant they are to God, that He loves them and has a definite purpose for their lives.

Several of us attended last year’s retreat which hosted guest speaker Donna Partow. We highly recommend that you put this year’s retreat on your calendar. The tranquil setting of the campground, the fellowship of women and the time of worship and teaching are just what you’ve been needing. You will come away refreshed and challenged in your walk with God.

This epic story of bravery, faith, suffering, love and unity celebrates the struggles of the group of Separatists, we know today as Pilgrims, as they sought to establish a colony at Cape Cod. This isn’t your happy little Thanksgiving play, but it reveals a deeper joy the Pilgrims experienced as they fled religious persecution in Holland in their historic Atlantic crossing. This production, written by local playwrights Briana Nei and Leigha Cabrera, opens the dusty pages of the pilgrim’s diaries and reveals the amazing saga lost in history.

The performances are free to the community. Donations accepted. Free refreshments at intermission.
