Senior Sunday is June 6th.

If your child is a graduating senior, please make sure you e-mail Briana at briananei@yahoo.com.  We are ordering graduation gifts for everyone, and believe we have all the names, but want to be sure.  Senior Sunday is June 6th and we will have gifts for all the graduates, as well as a senior slideshow presentation.  Please get about 10 pictures of your child through the years to Briana by Memorial weekend.  The hopsitality ladies will be doing something special that day to celebrate.

Mother’s Day Luncheon May 9th

The men of the church will be cooking up something yummy on Sunday, May 9th, to honor all the moms at Emmaus.
The menu will be grilled salmon, chicken, potato salad, and green salad.  A head count is needed to insure there is plenty of food.  If you and your family would like to attend, please e-mail Pastor Mike at heymikedean@gmail.com.  There is no cost for the meal, and everything is provided.
Also, if you would like to help with this effort, please let Mike know that as well.
This luncheon will replace our monthly potluck luncheon, so there will be no potluck on May 16th.

Help with VBS!!!

Register yourself to help out with our High Seas Adventure (VBS)! Register as a Volunteer Online.

If you have helped with VBS in the past, you know how much fun it is.  It is one of those activities that is a lot of work and effort, but always seems to leave a lasting impression.  What a great time to leave a “lasting impression” in a child’s mind!  Many seeds are planted during VBS and you can be a part of it!!

We are holding our 3rd annual VBS 6/21-6/25 in the evening from 6:00-8:45 (although helpers should plan on 5:45-9:00)

We are in need of Crew Leaders (male/female adults and teens 15 years or older) and assistant Crew Leaders (teens 12-14).

What are Crew Leaders and assistants?

During High Seas Expedition, you’ll visit different stations with a group of three to five kids. You’re not in charge of preparing or teaching activities; you just get to be there and help kids enjoy them as you shepherd the members of your Crew.

The following guidelines will help you be an awesome Crew Leader.

A Crew Leader is
• a friend and a helper,
• someone who knows and calls kids by name,
• someone who offers kids choices,
• someone who asks questions,
• someone who encourages kids, and
• someone who supports Station Leaders.

Please register at
http://www.groupvbspro.com/vbs/ez/Emmaus

or e-mail Samantha at swalraven@verizon.net

We have other positions to fill as well, if you feel like you can be used in other ways.  Mark your calendars for decorating on Sunday June 20th!!!!!

“Risk!” Extreme Reality Spring Retreat May 14-16th

May 14th, 2010 at 3:30 pm to May 16th, 2010 at 3:30 pm

Sleepy Creek Farm, Cross Junction, VA

What do camping, STEREOREEL, paint-ball, Ethan Dean, archery, capture the flag, Rachael Bracken, Real-World Risk Game, Rachel Schlosser, hiking, crafts, awesome sessions, World Domination, GREAT FOOD, Lisa Gum, crazy people, campfire, coffee house, Thomas Trapnell, beautiful scenery, 200-acre farm and Thomas Delany have in common? The answer? The Extreme Realty Spring Youth Retreat. If you haven’t been to one of our retreats. . .well. . .you are REALLY missing out! You may come wondering how fun it will be, but you will be so sad when it’s all over. . .because Extreme Reality retreats are put together for the maximum boredom-busting power!
Bring a friend. Bring two or three, because your friends may be really jealous and mad when they see the Youtube videos after the retreat and they were home all weekend wondering where all their friends were.

What do you need to know?
Cost:

If you pay by April 30th the retreat only costs $20!!!! If you want to paintball, it will cost an extra $20. $20 + $20 = $40

If you pay between May 1 and May 10th the cost is $30 with an extra $25 for paintball! $30 + $25 = $55.

Also, everyone attending will need permission forms and emergency medical forms to attend. These will be posted by Monday, April 5th on facebook or Emmausofclarke.com.

Registration forms can be mailed to:
Emmaus Church
PO Box 1
